Question about the After key on MPC 3000

Hi, does anyone share this problem or is it supposed to be like this?
The after key only works in tuning mode. I can assign decay, filter or whatever, but they don`t work "after". When I assign tuning, it works "after" too...
Please tell me if anyone knows anything about this

Yeah i once had the Same question. The problem is you can only change the parameter you used for the recording afterwards. So if you want to change the filter in after mode you have to record the note with the filter already assigned to the slider. Same goes for decay and attack. The tuning mode is the standard mode so basicly every note is recorded with the tune setting so after mode will always only affect the tuning. You could also change in step edit mode the filter/tuning/decay whatever.

Hi ChewoBeats! Thanks for your quick answer Not sure if I got you right.
Does that mean that you can`t assign note variation to already recorded notes unless it`s tuning? Which means that the After key only works for tuning, then...?
Strange. The manual says nothing about that
Quote from manual:
"Normally, the slider only affects new notes—it has no effect on notes
played back from sequences. However, if the AFTER key is pressed
(and the associated light goes on), the slider also overrides the Note
Variation data of any drum notes playing back from sequences, but
only drum notes that are assigned to the same note number (drum
pad) and parameter currently selected in the ASSIGN key’s screen.
Further, if in Overdub mode while the AFTER key light is on, these
changes are recorded into the active track."

No - you got to set the the aftermode parameter before recording the note. Like decay or filter instead of tune. You can only change the recorded parameter in AfterMode - so you got to set the paramter you want to change before recording the note. Or step edit the notes.
