Mpc 3000 Zip disk formatting

Whats up. How do I go about formatting a zip disk? I know how to somewhat but I am not sure which options to choose to ensure that it's fully formatted. Also, how do i save all my sounds/sequences/ and songs to a zip disk once it's formatted; and I how would save individual sounds (persay drum kits) to a floppy disk? To anyone that would be willing to help answer these questions, it would be very much apprecited-

Had the same issue myself a month ago.

I found that the best way to format disks is to use mpc editor.

Its not free - but you get to use it for a while on a trial run and its not that expensive.

Anyway - you can format zip disks no problem. I have XP and it works fine.

There is an option to format zip disks in the 3000, but to be honest - while it works, I can't see the contents of the disks on my PC (maybe something like translator would do the trick).

Anyway - if you just want to start getting sounds in your mpc - download mpceditor, and remember that the 3000 reads files in SND format.

Hmm, interesting mpc editor won't run on windows 7...

i take it you have an mpc 3000, have you got the vailixi O.S. upgrade. Its an OS upgrade which provides a few improvements including the ability to format disks so that they can be read by BOTH pc and mpc 3000...well worth checking out.

If I see any mpc 3000 editors that run on windows I'll let you know. Thinking about it, Chicken Systems do a program called Constructor but its not clear if the 'mpc format' refers to the 1000,2500 etc or the 3000 and 60. Also their customer service is pretty much a joke.

Can you get hold of software that lets you run a virtual machine and a windows xp disk - Sun's VirtualBox (free) could enable you to run XP inside windows 7. Its a bit of a long way round but should work.

It's not Win7, but 64-bit windows (any version) that MPCEditor has the problem with. I'd like to solve the issue, but not having a 64-bit PC gets in the way.

Anyway the MPCEditor formatter is not really needed since you can format the disk in the MPC itself.

If you could ever get the editor to work with 64 bit Mike, it would be rather fantastic.
I'd love to have it working on my Windows 7 machine.
I found that an MPC formatted disk could not be read.

I'm on Win7 64bit & unable to format via MPC Editor.
Can format via the MPC3k no problems. But then the Win7 64bit when trying to save a 'MPC Editor keymapping' to this pre formatted ZIP disk doesn't read - unfamiliar format.

Could it be down to key_mappings in the registry which will allow for the 64bit machine to do what the xp 32bit machines are currently capable of?

Reluctant to run a virtual machine, looking at pucrchasing Vailaxi real soon - so that will resolve the cross platform disk format issue, but until then, I can't get sample onto ZIP (hence into the MPC3k) hahahah, oh gosh
