How do you guys chop samples for MPC 3000??

Hey I was just curious how you guys chop your samples for the MPC 3000. What I used to do is record my sample into Cool Edit and then chop in there and then export sounds onto a zip disk and then load em up in the 3000 that way. I have found it to be much easier than chopping in the 3000 itself.

But lately I have actually been just recording my samples into cool edit but then Ill load them up in battery and trigger them from the MPC thru battery. It gives you alot more options like cutoff all samples and changing tune of all samples at once. I still sample all my drums and everything else in the 3000 but my main sample will be in Battery.

I was just curious how you guys do it??

I do all the chopping in the 3k its just faster

I sample drums from turntable to sampler one using note. Everything else I sample from turntable to sampler 2. Sampler 2 can compress, limit etc. it does auto chop too so you can map a song over a keyboard real fast. But you have to encode it. Then I sample that with sampler 1. Its cool cause you can take say the filter off with one click while still in loop. And the filter hits every key. Easy workflow. Sample filter or no filter. Plus you can time stretch it. When I get my DAW - ill master it. It took me a while but i really like my process. DAWS seem clinical. I just try to keep everything as loud as I can without distortion. My workflow might be better if I had [ midi in] on my keyboard but my Zen is near. I'm making music I like. I got my eye on a old midi keyboard but scoping batteries for it!

Way Im doing it now is just sampling into CEP and then recording my chops in via the SPDIF input.. Chopping in the 3000 takes way too long... Just sample what I need into CEP and then record each section in via the digital inputs...

same with drums.. I can layer and chop em in FL studio and play them along with the sequence in the MPC and then once I get the drums soundin nice Ill sample them in via spdif and then make the track...

CEP /AA1&2 is cool. I like the freq anal. Like 1 weekend i started naming samples like snare f4 kick g4 etc using the freq anal and i compared it with melo-d yne and they were coming out with the same names. CEP is real solid program. But i was like making my samples -0.1db and then tried using it from zip and didn't sound so good. need to try the s-pdif.
