Loading Samples from a Computer onto an MPC3000

If i have a USB Zip drive, Can I copy WAV files from my computer onto the drive and use them on the mpc?

You need MPC Editor to do that unless you have the latest MPC3000 os that uses hybrid partitions.

MPC3000 can't use wave files
You need to convert them to snd files
As Mitch say's, use MPC Editor to format a disk and convert the files. You can find it at midicase.com


Edit: It is possible that mpc editor has been discontinued, other than in it's free, reduced function form.

I've just sent midicase an email...really hoping they will sell me the full version somehow..otherwise what do we do? ..i will keep you informed!

I got a reply from midicase about mpceditor which is officially discontinued except in it's free form

that doesn't sound good! So i guess you can't format a zip disc (or cf card?)
on the mpc and then transfer files onto it from the free mpceditor version? (i'm still
missing a pc card reader to try this..)

so i suppose the only way of transferring pc files left is to play them in and sample them on the mpc? i'm thinking of burning cd's of drum sample sets and then playing them in through the digital cable...but it isn't a great solution!

surely there's got to be a way around this somehow? it's bad timing for me looks like i just missed buying full mpceditor, could've used it on an old pc so the c drive didn't matter..

I have to admit I did this once, Lost everything on the computer.
Not sure why it had to be discontinued though. Last time I spoke to Mike he was talking about the possibility of making it work on 64 bit. That wasn't so long ago.

If you just want to make mpc3000 readable snd files then, this app will do that for you very well

Nice one pilchard thanks for that link that prog is nice and simple. I got hold of full mpceditor by the obvious means... someone showed me the way.. looks like midicase have washed their hands of it so no choice really..
Do you have any advice about not losing my whole c drive? just wondering if there is anything to be careful of and hopefully avoid it!

When I open the formatting function I get a choice of which drive to format. There is a long number which is the system drive, plus whatever other drives I have active. If it is a zip drive it should say so, though CF drives may not be so obvious,
If you are unsure, just remove all media so the only drive left on the list is the system (C) drive. It;s imperative that you do not select this. Then when you insert your media it should then be obvious which one it is so you can avoid it.
The latest version of mpc editor seems to have the format function disabled, so you need the previous version.
Hopefully your system will look similar or else look more obvious.

When you format using mpc editor, the disk has just one partition (something you cannot do on the mpc3000). This allows the computer to access it as well as the mpc.
My mpc3000 cannot see a zip or cF card unless it is mpc3000 (or mpc60) formatted. (are they all like this?). So I need to format on mpc editor before I can use a disk in the sampler.
Hopefully Mike at Midicase will not abandon his creation for ever. Us 3k users need it.




On my computer, the number beginning with ST is the system drive. But the others are fairly obvious.
