MPCmk2/3000 LCD into MPC60MK1

HI guys

i wanna put a 3000 screen into my mpc60mk1. tired of the boring green screen so i want the cooler blue look. Im looking at both and i noticed the cableing on both LCDS are slightly different. should i solder the original mpc60 lcd cable to the 3000 screen to get it to work???

or can i order a el foil to make the color blue??

Jus talked to bruce forat about this over the phone. he said it can be done and he hasnt done it in a few years. He didnt like it because the 3000/60mk2 screen are smaller lenght wise and it shows on the display. i guess ill just leave it alone.

But damn he knows everything and he keeps you on the phone talkin about all types of info about mpc's.

He even said Akai is using him for input on the new renaisance thing comin.

But he hates computers for making music and i do too.

Hes like "hold on listen" and i heard some synth lead / bass screamin in the background, and hes like "you hear that? thats a actual harware synth i use to make beats, i dont need that computer shit! lol!

Can somene pLease post high res pics of there 60mk2 LCD screen where the wire thats connected/soldered to the LCD IS please??? this would really help me on how to make that LCD work in my 60mk1. Also take a pic of the connector inside the machine on the board where the cable plugs into. im betting its a differnt cable that is being used.

The data/power cable that goes to the LCD in the MPC 3000 is different than the one for the MPC 60. The pinout is the same, but the connectors are different.

To use a MPC 3000 LCD inside the MPC 60 you have to swap the connectors on the main board. You could also remove the connector on the LCD and solder the wires directly to it. Or you would be better off buying a used S1000 or S1100 series sampler to harvest the LCD.

The green LCD assembly for the MPC 60 Mk I (also used in the ASQ10) is a different size than other LCDs, so you will also need an adapter bracket to secure it into the housing.

The wires that are soldered onto the LCD originate from the backlight inverter and power the backlight. If the replacement LCD does not have the solder pads to attach the backlight to, you have to solder the wires directly to the tabs on the backlight.

yeah the screen i have is pulled out of a s-3000xl. but on ebay last night i bought a blue one already modded with correct connector and wire to put in my 60 when it comes. $ 30.00

mpcstuff is sold out of the adaptor plate so ill try vst next.

if there sold out too, ill have to figure out a way to mount it. im glad ill still be able to keep my original screen in case i want to swap it back out in the future.

You could make that adapter plate out of almost anything. Wood, cardboard, plastic. The material would have to be rigid enough to stabilize it.

Maybe it's time to invest in a 3D printer?
