Akai MPC 60 MK1 LCD question

Hi guys,

I've recently just purchased my first MPC a 60 MK1. I picked it up cheap because it had a broken LCD. I have searched around for a while but couldn't find a MK1 LCD to replace my broken one with.

So I managed to pick up a cheap S3000XL as i read that these LCD's are compatible with a bit of modification.

I've managed to make a bracket and make it fit in the housing now the only thing i need to know is the pin orientations as i believe they are slightly different.

If anyone would be able to help me in establishing the pin orientation eg -pin1 from MPC 60 to pin 9 on the s3000XL display etc it would be really helpful and greatly appreciated

Check with VST or Forat they probably know the pin outs.

It would be cheap with a busted screen, dirt cheap, unless it had some upgrades fitted?

Thanks for that. I emailed Forat to see if he could help me out with the pin configuration. Yeah the MPC does have the memory expansion board and is working as only half the LCD was broken.

I had a read of the thread and it did say it might be plug and play. I don't want to take the risk of trying though and fry the main board. I do have the mpc 60 service manual with the pin outs but can't locate a s3000xl service manual to check.

Yeah I will definitely share any info I come past might have to break the multimeter out and have a careful go at working it out if I can't find any info from someone who has done it already.

If you compare the schematics in the service manuals for the MPC 60 and the MPC 3000, you should get an idea what the pinout should be.

I do have both the service manuals for the mpc 60 mk1 and mpc 3000 however I can't find one for the s3000xl. Would the pin outs for the screen be the same for the mpc3000 and s3000xl?

Anyone wanna sell me a mpc 60 mk1 lcd lol. I'm going to try give it a hit tomorrow just hate to rip a perfectly good s3000xl apart lol.

Sometimes if you need the parts, that's what you have to do. There's a lot more S3000XL's out there than MPC60's, and they are cheap. You won't find anyone selling an MPC60 MK1 screen in a hurry.
