Question/Idea

Is it possible to use the new Akai renaissance software to take my program and sequence data from my 3000 and load it straight into the computer? So essentially multitracking the sequence into the daw, but without all the equipment. Thanks for any helpful input in advance!

First off, that's not tracking. That's still sequencing, your just using the software instead of the 3000. Unless your recording the output of the Ren software into a DAW.

As far as loading in the programs...legacy support is touch and go, so unless you have access to a Ren beforehand to try it... I wouldn't make any workflow commitments. I don't know if anyone has tested 60/3000 files, I think just the 2000/4000 so far.. Mabye try posting in the Ren forum if anyone has loaded 3000 files?

Which brings me to my last point, you will have to buy a studio or Ren to get access to the software..

I know it's not multitracking, I am just looking for a workaround to get all my individual tracks into a daw. So basically your saying that the mpc software can't be used standalone without the renaissance controller? I think it would be pretty useful being able to manipulate my sequences on a computer after creating them in the 3000.

Yeah you need a studio or Ren physically plugged into the computer to use the software. I think it would be a great idea to release the software standalone as well, so legacy users like us could make use of it when we wanted too.

One thing to remember about this though, is your sequences won't sound the same played back in the Ren's software sequencer. the timing will be slightly different.

The Ren may still be buggy in the area of importing projects from Legacy MPC's. Like the above it's best to get info from a person who owns and 'USES' both.

Yea I definitely agree with you on that one. Akai would have been smart to allow this. I guess I'll email them and ask them about it.

A friend of mine has the ren, I sent him some 60 program, sounds, and seq files and he tried to load it into his ren. It seems like the sounds loaded but there was some sort of glitch with playback, most of the sounds wouldn't trigger, and wouldn't play the way I programmed them. It was odd, some sounds were on the right pads, but some of those sounds wouldn't trigger when the sequence was playing, even though they were programmed in the sequence itself.

I don't know, but maybe you could use the software demo to test some legacy files?? And check the Ren forum for info on compatibility issues, Tutor did a review on certain legacy MPC's.

Also if you're gonna start a thread, give it a meaningful title with some idea what it's about. That really helps.
