Sorry if I missed this but I searched first.

I'm trying to upgrade the memory in my MPC3000. I'm on OS 1.03. I'd like to upgrade by rom chip, but for now this is what I have.

It seems like I have 4mb in there so I'm assuming it has the base 2mb memory board and 2 1mb simm cards but I haven't opened it yet.

I've seen 16mb 30 pin simm ram cards for sale. Does the MPC3000 actually use all this memory?

Also If I get these, should I remove the 2mb board? I've seen that mentioned somewhere before.

Thanks.

Hi lifesabatch,

You can buy 32mo Ram here :

http://cgi.ebay.fr/32MB-RAM-MEMORY-UPGRADE-AKAI-MPC-3000-MPC3000-SAMPLER_W0QQitemZ270347002696QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Components?hash=item3ef1efe348&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177&_trkparms=240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

After that, you need to take off the old Ram, and put the new one, that s all.

Just an advice, buy the New ROM from Rohan http://www.mansell-labs.com/ to update this OS to 3.5, it's just a pleasure to work with.

See ya

If you choose to go the 16MB x2 SIMM route (which is very sensible) , make sure you remove the 2MB base memory board or very bad things could happen.
