MPC3000: 32MB RAM Upgrade / OS 3.08 versus OS 3.11

I just recently purchased a MINT MPC3000. However, it only has OS 3.08 w/ the stock 2MB of RAM. So, I recently purchased two sticks of 16MB RAM for the MPC3000. Will OS 3.08 recognize 32MB RAM? Do I need the OS 3.11 ROM?

If so, where might I find an OS 3.11 ROM?

Your MPC will recognize the RAM with its current OS.

The Version 3.0 manual isnt very helpful in answering this question, not sure if there were any updates MPC3000 manuals/addendums. Would be good to know exactly when 32mb support came in, for future reference.

32MB support was there from the start. Granted, two sticks of 16MB of RAM in the mid to late 1990s was pretty expensive to buy.

The info probably isn't in the manual since Akai has always been really obtuse in sharing information as they were probably making good money overcharging services like upgrading the RAM.

Hence the misleading info in the manual.

Good to know all MPC3000s can address 32mb, regardless of OS.
