Does slaving the mpc60(or any of the Akai hardware) to Protools change the feel of the timing?
I've had this conversation with a few people over the years but my own ears are not good enough to hear the difference and I've never heard it explained in a way that convinces me.. i.e. technical data about the process that explains why there would be a difference.. with the exception of possible lag between midi instruments(but that is something all together different..and easier to hear.. sounds like when ur dj'ing and 2 records dont match quite right)
My basic setup would be something like this...
I start making the beat on the mpc60 or 2000 or sometimes 1000. I'll slave another drum machine with my drum sounds usually the boss dr-202 or my electribe sx, get samples on my mpc.. and go to town! once i have it where im happy with the beat/ sequence I start up Protools and set my session tempo to the same exact tempo as my sequence in the mpc.. on the 2000 I set the mpc In to midiclock and then set midi out on protools to the appropriate channel and set up my tracks etc. press record and play.. then it starts the drum machines etc.. giving me what i feel is an accurate representation of what i created on the mpc.. as far as timing and swing... so my question is am i tripping or are people out there in the "real world" spreading the all to common, disinformation and mpc "myths" or is there something that is happening that my ears cant discern.
