MPC 3000: Play/ Record and Pad glitch

Hi all, I’ve been experiencing a strange problem with my MPC3000 for a few months. I’ve done a lot of searching, and can’t find any reference to this problem elsewhere. I wonder if anyone can offer some help?

Seemingly at random the pads and Play/ Record section stop responding. Everything else works as normal. I think this tends to occur when I’ve been editing samples.

If I go into the Programme/ Sounds menu – option 1, and press the pads, the screen doesn’t recognise that any pads are being hit. But if I press ‘play’ in this screen, it plays back the sample, and I can also play the samples on the Sample Edit screen.

If I turn the MPC off and back on again, and reload the programme, everything works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I suspect I’m doing something stupid and not realising it! Any advice or insight would be really appreciated!

Hi Shostakovich,

The problem just happened again. I went to the Main Screen, and under Type: checked that it was Drum.

But the problem persists. The Play/ Rec section is unresponsive, and none of the pads work. But in edit screen I can hear all the sounds. If I turn the machine off and back on, everything works fine.

Im pretty sure Im changing some kind of setting without realising it. Any ideas out there?

Based on your own words, I'd reset the parameters before going any further. Take the machine back to factory condition, and continue with your fault-finding if that doesnt resolve the problem.

Thanks Clint - I did try to 'Initialize: ALL PAR FILE DATA', but it had no effect. However, when I turned the machine off and on again, everything worked fine.

Thanks for your input guys - I'm a bit puzzled!

If it happens at random,But when you are using it, ie: hitting pads, perhaps a cable has come loose inside. I didnt see u mention this as a possible trouble-shooting step youve taken..

Nice one Dave - thats something I hadnt considered. I'll open it up and make sure all the cables are properly connected. I'll keep the forum updated of any developments in case anyone else encounters this problem.
