3k and Computer Syncing

Just wondering what most people do as far as recording individual MPC tracks into their DAW, and maintaining the groove -- I know Innerclock is the way to go here, but I can't afford that yet :/

I usually do the following.

Once I finish my sequence, I solo one track at a time and arm Pro Tools. I turn on the the Count In on the MPC and route the click to the same output as the track. When I hit play, I record the 4 count-in clicks and my audio. I do this for each track. Then in Pro Tools, I line the tracks up based on the 4 clicks.

What methods do you all use?

FSK or SMPTE for rock solid sync and record using individual outs instead of one track at a time.

Thanks for that, though I unfortunately have no way to record 8 outs.
Wouldn't SMPTE over USB be subject to the same issues as MIDI Clock over USB?

SMPTE is an audio stream,as is FSK.
They do not have anything to do with MIDI and therefor don't suffer the same issues, over USB or otherwise.

If your recording device can not playback SMPTE or FSK with out issues that means it can't play anything without issues and is not fit for purpose.

Even recording a track at a time, you'll get better results than you can with MIDI clock.

Get a multi-channel audio interface to record everything (8 outs) at once.
No need to sync to DAW.

MIDI clock works fine for me. No drift.
