Mpc60 upgrade questions

hi guys

i thinking about upgrading my classic 60
im curently running the og 2.02 os and i find the limited sampling time and memory quite anoying.

been looking at the RAM upgrade and the 3.10 os and was wondering if that would be enough or is the Marion SCSI a must have to these upgrades?

the scsi upgrade is cool, but then you need to buy something to connect to it.. zip drives are shit, hard drives are not too bad... but you can't use folders so you must use partitions.

Honestly, the ram upgrade is more important than the scsi IMO. You can fill the ram and save all the contents on 2 floppy disks once you have the expansion.

Also, if you got the scsi you would need to upgrade the OS as well so it can detect drives and that.

Maybe look into those USB floppy emulators, some people around here talk about them and have them working in their mpc 60s.

I would say the later OS is essential if you are seriously into the machine and need to remove the sample time restriction.

Next up is storage and the ram upgrade. If you don't want to mess with floppies, it's either a floppy emulator or scsi option. The ram upgrade is essential once the sampling restriction is lifted, to make the most of longer samples.

The scsi option is the most convenient storage method, especially if a card reader is thrown into service. Floppy emulator is a good option if funds are limited, quite a lot of people using these now.
