I'm trying to get the transpose command feature to work with a kick drum sample on drum track within a Sequence. I'm using the Akai 3.11 OS.

After I enter the Transpose amount and switch back to Drum. The track triggers a totally different sound that is assign in another pad bank.

The actions I've taken:
I have a kick drum track that I would like to apply the transpose changes too.
1. In Play/Record Mode Drum Track I've changed the Type:MIDI
2. I've selected Transpose command
3. Next I enter the transpose amount.
4. Then select Soft Key 1(Transpose permanent) and switch back to Drum.
5. The Results when I pressed play. The track triggers a totally different sound (Clap sample) that is assigned in another pad bank on that track instead of the Kick Drum.

Has any of you all been successful with changing the Drum track Type to Midi applying the Transpose changes and then switch back to Drum Track and hear the permanent change applied to the correct sound on sequenced track?

Here's the guidance from the Manual:
This function allows you to transpose a track up or down by a specified amount in real time. This function is only a temporary change—the sequence data are not altered unless SOFT KEY 1, <Transpose Permanent>, is pressed. Also, the MPC3000 does not transpose Drum tracks—only MIDI tracks can be transposed. (Though if you do want to transpose a Drum track, temporarily changing its type to MIDI on the Play/Record screen will allow you to transpose it. Make sure to change it back to DRUM when you’re done.)

The pads are acting like an external keyboard, so when you transpose your kick drum that was played from the pad, the notes will be moved. In my opinion, the transpose function works best when you are working from an external MIDI keyboard.

It is transposing the MIDI notes within the sequence, not the tuning of the sample.

With a drum program, there are different drum sounds assigned to different MIDI notes.

When you transpose the sequence, it is changing the MIDI notes being sent from the sequence to the MPC sample engine, and with an MPC drum program that is changing which sample is being played, from the different MIDI notes, it does not transpose individual drum sample tuning.

It is not going to do what you think.

Thanks @Huh? & @SimonInAustralia. I was attempting to use the transpose as option to apply pitch changes to an alternate kick drum on it's own drum track to add subtle variations to the drum groove. I had already used up my 16 levels recording the kicks using the 16 levels filters. In step edit window I can only apply one changes to the filter or tune but not both.

Man I was looking forward to using the transpose to change the pitch of alternate kick that was assigned to the track. Oh well I guess I'll just copy events/copy kick to another pad and just change the tune Program.

Thanks Again.
