Mpc3000 note repeat issue

Hi I’m using mpc3000 with 3.50

I’m trying to do note repeat while I’m producing but no matter how I put the note value, sound comes a note after I hit the pad. And I’m pretty sure the pads are okay.

I’m kind of new to this gear so don’t now if this is normal that I just need to hit the pad exactly on the beat or just before the bear so I can start note repeat at the point i want.
