3000 to 3000le

I think of upgrade my "old" 3000 to a 3000le. I would have to spend 500us in btw to get it( its brand new). mine 3000(16mb) are in goood cond, but one buttun is starting to loose it and the machine has been around for 10 years. Besides that i think the colorsheme is sttrange,
is it worth the switch

Don't do it, keep the REAL Roger Linn piece and skip the knock-off....3000 to 4000, maybe.....but the LE's are just overpriced hype, they do nothing more than the original. I was rockin an old 2000 for a while, but when I had the chance to cop a real old school 3000 that was it. Been passin up that LE sh** for years. It debuted at like $3000 new. Now if Emu(or whoever owns 'em now) pumped out a new school 16-bit 1200 that would be different-- keep the classic!!!!

They did make a new school sp 1200, it's called the MPC 2000. The guy from EMU left them and joined akai. They really missed the mark though.

a new OS for the SP 1200 would be dope, Linn 3.10 style.

keep that shit old school, just get more ram and fix the buttons. they cost less than 50 cents each. you might wanna get new pads while youre at it

"keep the classics" is always nice, and i'm really a classic keeper in all my musicgear so thats an argument i can buy.
However my 3000 are spending some time in smokey clubs and i carry
it around to other studios(yes i have a case). Say that my 3000 would die
in 5years from now, and the brand new 3000le would last like 10more years. I my view that 500us could be good spending money, if scenario
above would be true, but i dont know..
If my 3000 would last for 30 more years and 3000le for 40 years, i wouldn't matter the case.
Classic or not classic, its just crucial for me to hang on to a machine that
will work, and i believe i prefer 3000 series.
So my real questions is how long will the 3000 be around before it dies,
consider daily usage and ordinairy maintain service when needing(swopping pads n buttons).

in btw, i have an analogsynth(korg 800DV) oldie made 1975, and people have told me to get rid of it, to get some good money while i can
but i can't...and the thing never seems to give up on me...yet, and im glad i'd kept it the last 5years or so

you can fix your mpc for less than 500. powersupply is around 80, pads 30, buttons 11 bucks for 50 of them, if your screen is buzzing, inverter 30 bucks. the le is definitely prettier tho

If you use the keyboard, then keep it. who cares what the people say.

It doesn't matter much to me, the LE looks cool, but both are very reliably made, so they should last as long as parts are available for it when it breaks down.

I think most 3000 will outlast their owners.

The Akai MPC 3000LE is not a knock off. It is indentical to the orginal MPC 3000, which was manufactured from 1992-1996/7. Akai starting producing the MPC 2000 in 1997 and cut out Roger Linn. At that time, there were still many who craved for the 3000 so 2 years later, they just gave it a new paint job and re-released the 3000.
