SCSI upgrade: what else do i need?

i was looking at linn's site and the SCSI upgrade (internal hardware pieces) cost $300.

i guess i need to buy an external zip drive (which is kind of a pain since i'll have a useless floppy still intact) and a zip cable, and zip disks which will probably bring the total upgrade costs upwards of $500? is it really worth it?

with floppies, what if you are going to save a song (which i haven't gotten to at this point) and you'll need to save the whole project on multiple disks? will the MPC prompt you to load new disks and format them and just continue saving the entire project? what about when you load this song/project? will it prompt you to load each specific disk? how are you supposed to know which disk is which? you can't name disks as far as i know. but i guess you could just handwrite the song name and disk number on each disk as you finish saving to them. is this about the only solution?

i'm assuming you need to save every file in the 'save' function in the 'disk' window when you're ready to save an entire song/project. is this correct?

about how many disks would your average 4 min. song require?

man, this is all real basic shiite in the Manuel...haha...and I'm guessing by the time I've replied you'll already figure it out

SCSI is real dope, get it

format the discs in advance, when you save, save "all sequences" and then "all programs", all programs might take two discs depending on how much you've sampled. I've gone up to 3 floppies before label the discs by hand...when you load, it's the same way, just load the disc with all sequences and then all programs and it will prompt you to insert the other disc

you can also go through and find single samples if you like

Zip disks, $5 each.

Ebay is your friend. And one disk will do you for a long time.

Floppies: Label each disk, multiple disks work fine, but just get the scsi, it is so worth it.
