ive had it with the zips!

my zip drive is acting up again. this one is about a year old as my old one was suffering from the 'clicks of death'... if im saving a small program, i usually dont have problems, but if im saving a program with long loops, 10 seconds or longer, the program wouldnt load so i have to delete the loop from the program to make it load. its a pain in the ass. lately, certain partitions wouldnt load at all and give me the clicks. im starting to think maybe the mpc's scsi board's at fault. is the syquest removable drive any more reliable? how many zip drives have you guys gone thru...

ZIP's can get like that every now and then.
JAZ drives too.

Try formatting a ZIP cart several times over and then see if you still have a problem with saving and loading files.

Sound like the ZIP drive has dirty heads and is having problems moving to other partitions on your cart.

I've got four ZIP drives and about 30 or so carts.
Can't say I've had a problem with any of them.

JAZ drives and carts though ... that is a different story.

For many reasons I doubt your MPC-SCSI board is at fault.

As for SYQUEST ... wouldn't touch them.
