chopping samples in the 3000

hi,

i know this question has been asked before but when i do a search (no matter how specific it is) i always get like 1400 matches!? anyways....

how do i chop a sample in up in the mpc 3000? ideally, i just want to record the entire sample into my mpc and then break it up into bits and pieces and assign these broken up bits and pieces of the sample onto different pads (for the past few days, i've been doing seperate recordings every time of little bits and pieces of the sample and then assigning them to pads, this process is taking way too long!) any replies/feedback would be nice

I do it on the computer first for speed and ease of use. Today, I just chopped about 100 snares, percussion sounds, hightats and kicks. But on the MPC, you can copy the same file as many times as you want samples. Then begin to cut, filter, fade and rename each one. There are other tricks I'm sure, but I think that's really the simplest way.

For searching, the instructions say:

"Search for Keywords:
You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches"

I think that means if you use more than one term in the search phrase you need to use AND between each term.
