RS-232 serial port on back of my s950

yo, so i thought i had noticed one on the back of my 60II, but it turns out i do have one of these ports installed on the back of the s950.

it has 25 holes.

it is rusty (around the outside perimeter). will this affect it in any way? what should i use to clean the rust off of it?

would this be a good indication that i may in fact have SCSI ZIP drive capabilities on my s950?

how might i 'test' this with a standard iomega ZD?

clean the rust off anyway you can but avoid using harsh chemicals and getting them into the connector. probably best with something that evaporates quick like Alcohol on a cloth, or just scrape it off.

Do it with the machine off.

i think it was maze or maybe entel who had a ZD and maybe even a HD hooked up to his 950? can one of you guys shed some light on whether or not i might've lucked out and bought one with ZIP installed?

SCSI on an s950 is a large centronix connector, it will also say on the back of the machine "ib-109", and it will have a digital record input in the form of a SPDIF rca type jack...

the rs232 jack is basicly not utilized with normal functions, however, on the s900 page that someone posted last week, there is an app that supposedly transfers samples from a computer via the rs232... look up the post entitled something like "for s900 users" it will have a link to a page with multiple applications for your s900/950...

but NO, rs232 does not equal SCSI...
