You were sampling a real 808 into it? Yeah, that's gotta be fun.

Like I said I got Noise-a-rama when I was doing anything real low. Toms and kicks. I am spoiled wow you all were right about 60 being a totaly different reality! Whenever I would hit a wall like that BAM! I got my filters on the MPC2k, but on the 60 i get the lows a bit of noise like tape hiss. Very minor but in a mix it will be all character I imagine. I layer so much anyway so it will be pure bliss.

There something I read on The Basement Jaxx ( Wheres Your Head At?/Tombraider Soundtrack) and they said that they used alot of old gear and a MPC didnt say which one. They said that they had a noisy mixing desk and thier kicks and snares always distorted but they thought it made the tracks sound cool. That CD (Rooty) was huge for them thanks to Distortion and Hiss. I guess a little noise aint so bad.

I think that noise might be coming from the 808, or maybe you have the gain switch at the back set to high (shouldn't be unless it's a mic in my experience) which boosts the 808 noise. the 808 has some noise with all it's outputs, it can vary with the levels of the sound too.

do any of the 60's sync modes keep a tr808 locked to it or is it necessary to get a midi/sync24 convertor box?

I'm pretty sure you need a box, you could slave the 60 to the 808 with a trigger out like accent or something, but what fun is that.

i'm looking at these - http://www3.sympatico.ca/sales_emblab/about.htm - the first one listed is two-way, i.e. use 808 as the master or mpc as master. wonder what would sound better, given both machines rep for badass funky timing...

808 sounds quite the same slaved to a 60, not sure about the other way around, I love that you can just slave the 60 to clicks, its liek a swiss army knife sequencer.

Im a newbie here and I already see a need for one. Anyone willing to get together to write one? I have some ideas and a awesome graphic artist I approched her about it and she is up for it. Just wanted to know if anyone wanted to help or I you all think there isnt a market for one? Would you buy it?

It is a machine that rewards patience and practice. Read the FAQ, and the manual, and feel around for the rest and you will be well on your way.

elmacaco,
thanks! for the encouragement! If I do go ahead surely you will get a free copy and a listing in the credits. Hey, I say since you think its a good idea damn then it must be cool. So hopefully after reading around and checking out the faqs I will be armed with enough knowledge to go do it thanks again. What about the rest of ya!?
