Someone here uses an SP 303 don't they? SP 404 now released!

you can easily make beats on the 303. its just not as intricate as mpc sampling. you cant set delay on your snares or attack on kicks or any of that sh1t, its real basic. you can set start/end points, use fx, sequence, what else do you need to make beats??

from an mc and producer point of view. i thikn the 404 lloks hot. i especially like the internal mic for the on the spot recorded freestyle, or any noise for that matter, plus all the dope effects. As far as sequencer goes if you already have an mpc you really wouln't have to worry about that. Plus for me it takes a cf card, (which if anyone already owns an mpc1k, or the 2000xl w/ the card reader)I think would save some money. You would be able to go back and forth with the .wav samples, without having to use different forms of media to save your work. I think its a definite compliment to any mpc with the maybe the exception of the 4k Iin my opinion.

Madlib uses it with a 4 track recorder, which if you have used one before, is all the sequencer you need for anything.

Word. If DEEPDOWNINSIDE doesn't believe you can make whole tracks with just a 303 and a 4 track cassette, he just doesn't know.

You could do the same with a 4 track and any simple sampler, like an S950 with atari sequencer, or an SP12. All you'd need the 4 track for is to lay the cuts and rhymes on top of the beat.

I wonder if they put a faster processor in the 404... I hate the way the 303 takes a few seconds after you hit 'truncate' and stuff.

How does the sp 303 work? Cause i know u only get 4 tracks per pattern but do you have to use the same 4 tracks for the whole song? Like can i have kick, snare, hi hat, and looped sample going for one verse then when the chorus comes can i make another pattern that has all of those bounced onto one track and then add a keyboard sample in so then i'd only have 2 tracks for the chorus? I'm really confused on how this thing handles all that.

nah it works like 8 pads at once called polyphony. 8 pads at mono is its max. So that means u can layer shit but it will only play 8 pads (mono) at one given time.
