No you don't have to use the ALL option. You can save your program and then save your seqs individually but there is no way to combine the file if that is what you are wondering.

Say it again what you are doing and what's going wrong.
The simple thing is;
-.ALL file saves all the seq and songs in the unit at the time of save.
-.APS file saves all the sounds and programs in the unit at the time of save.

so you either save a PGM- file single program or APS-all sounds and programs (for the sounds)
and either SEQ-single sequence or ALL-all songs and sequences (for the sequences)

APS will save sounds not assigned to a program, or multiple programs, if all your sounds are in a program you can just save the program and the all file for all sequences. You can open an individual sequence from an ALL file if you want.
