OK finally got around to chopping som drums sounds on the 60 but I'm getting some queer results.

I sampled a drum loop and was just trying to pull out each individual drum hit and assign to a pad.

so the first kick has a snare after it, and I initially want the kick. So I trim right to the start of the kick and lop the end off but trying to keep as much of the reverb tail as possible. So I home in on the very start of the next sound (the snare) 000.0XX.00 using the XX's for precicesness. I get it how I want then it'll start playing a tiny bit of the snare!!! I'm like yo I just trimmed you off?!?!? Then I have to trim further back towards the kick to get rid of the snare again. The strange thing is I'll be cycling through the no's getting closer to the snare then I'll come across the first part where the snare creeps in say 000.070.000 then I'll bo back down to 000.069.00 and its there as well even though I just played it and it wasn't there?!?!?

So I get it all kosher, eventually then I assign to program to play the pads and the next sound is SOMETIMES playing in all of the drum sounds. But the thing that gets me is that it seems to be random.

And finally, 000.000.XX, I can never go higher than 39 in XX for start and stop, whats that all about? Is it because I don't have the full RAM (still).

All of the above is in Soft Start/End as I haven't got into Zones yet.

:?:

As stated in the OS 3.1 manual (Page 144):

COMMENT: Because of the way the MPC60 internally plays sounds, up to approximately 20 milliseconds (randomly) of the end of a sound is not heard. Take this into account when playing a portion of a sound. For example, when playing a region from 001.000.00 to 002.000.00, you may only hear all but the last 20 milliseconds of this region.

This could be your problem. Also, the 39 thing is normal. I have full memory and this is my limit as well.

00-39 are samples, 40 KHz sale rate is shown there, not sure if it's thousands of samples or what, but that's why.

yeah, all akai samplers have that 20 ms thing, just hit it repeatedly and you will tell.

You should use the pla x feature and set it to play before soft start and after soft end to get really surgical chops.
