sample name assignment

I've noticed that when I sample sounds, the OS automatically assigns "soundXX", where XX is +1 of the last "soundXX" I saved. But when I change the sample name right away, the next sample is assigned the same XX#.

ie.
first sample, sound09, "keep" as sound09.
2nd sample, sound10, etc.

is there a way to make the OS assign a user-defined name so that each subsequent sample is named with a # as a prefix the way the 2kXL does?

hope y'all catch my drift on this.. now that I read it, must be a bit confusing to see what I'm getting at..

I don;t think so, good idea tho.

Just name them during keep & name phase, using the buttons on the 60 to type names is the shyt.

I think you have an 8 character limit.

Correct if you want to move files between a computer ( mac/pc ) and mpc60/mpc3000 formatted disk.

el, typing shit out at the keep/name phase is painful and really slows things down. I started renaming everything when I'm finished with a beat. it seems to work ok. but it was just strange that even when I turned off the mpc, it remembered the last sample I saved was "sound043"...

I'm quick on those letters, it's even faster than machines that let you use midi controllers to name stuff.
