MPC60: samples across keyboard keys?

Some good advice by all... much appreciated. Right now my EPS and my SP get plenty of use...it's just that each machine has it's own characteristic in sound, and I kinda miss the 60 in a way (good advice on an s900 or 950)...but bottom line, gotta be able to play samples on a keyboard.

Let me just say though, don't be so quick to dismiss the Ensoniq EPS16+. Extremely versatile machine-- many more capabilities than an MPC (I'm not hatin though) and very crisp/punchy with drums (I hate listing names that use certain equipment--it's like trying to validate why YOU use it, but I hate to see the eps' looked down upon= True Master...RZA...early Mobb Deep...Fantom of the Beat (who remembers Haas G?)...etc, etc.

But here's what I'll PROBABLY do-- pick up an s900 and use in conjunction with the eps16+...good lookin on that one. I was kinda stuck in just thinking about the 60 I overlooked just hooking up an s900 to my keyboard.

you should go with a 950.

not trying to hijack the thread here but...the s950 really kills the eps16+ for sound?? ive got the mpc 60 allready and kinda wanted to step away from akai and try another ensoniq product...i had an asr 10 awhile back before i knew how to use it..really i want both an s950 and eps/asr to go with the 60 but i gotta go one thing at a time here...950 for filter and eps for alternate sound engine and effects...i cant get over the effects i'd love some gritty chorus/fx on some horns/piano/whatever on a 60 beat.....i don't have the luxury of trying brfoe i buy so opinions are welcome here...i know yall allready spoke on this but my situation is a bit differetn, i have the 60 allready....rpos and cons??? anyone..

I gotta ask why you need to add anything?
If you have an SP12 and the 16+ and know how to use them unless you are looking for the TCE of the 950 or the Seq of the 60 don't bother.
Put your money toward a weak link in your setup.

Sample into the SP then resample the pieces back together into the EPS.

I know this is the 60/3000 forum so it would be strange if people here didn't like the two, but the 60 isn't the gotta have piece.
-The sound is OK, but not something that's you couldn't live without.
-The seq is good but any seq that you know id good.
-The interface can be functional but it's still personal preference.

If you like the 60 sound and I mean the filterless 60 sound not the S-900/950 additional features sound, like the way the seq works and how it feels as well can relate to the it works then you would love a 60.
But nothing in your original question had any real 60 user about it.
You said the sound and wanting to spread across the keys that's 900/950.
Multi-sampling to make samples on the 60 would get old quick.

So in conclusion you should either add a 900/950 to your current setup or add a 60 and understand you would still need to do your keyspans on the EPS or do a lot of multisampling.

I would pass unkess you are trying to redo your setup.
