my appendages are flat....

my fingertips are practically bleeding......the mpc60II pads that i'm currently using are tougher than leather and i can't take it any longer.....does anybody know if there are 3rd party companies that sell a new drum pad pallete? I'm looking for the softer 2000xl type pads. those babies are nice as hell....thanks

call vst, they got new pads for $25, they are the same ones for the 2000.

I replaced mine last year.

25.00 each or for the sheet? I thought the pads lay on a unified pallette?

i can't read the information form on VST's site. Because the text is in black ,and the background is black, I am having trouble entering my info. Can you help me out El.

Which pads did you purchase, the black or the grey?

I ordered the pads from VST. I figured out their site....I had to hit CTRL+A to select everything on the screen. I'm good now....I think I have to figure out how i'm going to install these.....I have no clue.

word, I was going to suggest that you do a "select all" if the text was the same colour as the background....

I got the gray, I usually just call them up. Installing isn;t difficult, check the last page of the 60 FAQ at the top of the forum, Florre put up detailed instructions with pictures.

if florre's pics aren't up anymore you can refer to mine. sh!t was mad easy. took all of 10 mins. from start to finish.

I see your MK II has the yellow clear sensor pads like my MK I, maybe it's a later version than the orange ones?

yo, i thought the 60 pads were different from the rest of the models'? you guys think they're the same across the board? like i heard they were 'squishy' or more 'rubbery' than the 2kxl's for example. i've only used my 60 but when the previous owner told me i'd love the pads on it i knew exactly what he was talkin' about when i started bangin' some patterns out and he said the xl's were a little more like calculator buttons (toyish).

if i was you, drum, i'd rock those black pads for half the price of the gray ones but you do have to wait for dec or perhaps longer to get 'em. post up a pic of your pads. i wanna see how beat up they are. a thorough cleaning might help?

also, have you guys noticed these two markings on either end of each pad? i noticed them when i cleaned the other day. it looks like two dots close together on the top-left and one dot on the lower-right of each pad. they're like little indentations or something. it takes a sharp eye but you should notice them in the same place on each and every pad. lemme know if you guys have this pattern on your pads. i wonder why they're there?

nah nah- it's not that the pads are unresponsive, but they're actually quite the opposite of what you said of the 2000xl pads. If anything, the 2000xl pads are far more squishy and soft than my 60 pads. That's the reason I was complaining. My pads are stiff and seem dried out. Part of the reason was that the owner before me had extremely greasey hands, probably because he had a jerri curl (I purchased the mpc-60 from a dude in South East LA). Forat said to me, "hey, do you eat a lot of greasey fried foods while you're working on music?" and i responded, "of course not, i don't eat or drink around my equipment." Said Forat, "well somebody has some greasey ass finger tips, because your facepaint has been eaten away by the oils in the skin."

I donno man.....I just hope the pads fit properly. ...have you replaced yours? I'm using an Mpc-60II, and I heard that the phone jack gets in the way. Ahhh....back to work. The boss is coming....heheh

^drum, i think you'll be aight. the way you described the greasy finger story it sounds like all the pads might be the same, stock; but it depends on the condition they are exposed to which determines 'feel.' mine seem worn but i have no point of reference as i've never used brand new or other models'.

my pads were so grimey when i took 'em out. i was waiting for the homie to bring over his digi cam so i could post up before & after pics but i couldn't wait! the grid in between the pads was brown! i don't think they had EVER been cleaned in 10+ some odd years!

about the headphone jack getting in the way, it's not that bad. one corner of it kinda gets in the way of getting at one screw and then putting the housing back takes some patience but overall the task was mad easy.

i actually had a second pair of hands to help guide everything back in place. but now that i think about it you could prolly do everything solo by flipping the top cover flat on its back so you can just drop the pads back in as opposed to hanging 'em back in when the cover is propped up like i had it. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH WIRE SLACK to lay it down flat, though.

The Pads fit fine, they are practically the same. The original pads in the 60 are nicer than the replacement pads you get, but not by much, so when the 60 pads are worn it's still an improvement. i think they went with cheaper rubber or maybe made them a bit thinner. but they feel almost the same, not like calculator buttons at all (even on an XL) it's def good to replace your pads if they are worn out. And just get the gray ones, waiting for other pads can happen later, they are cheap enough.

Gherri curl juice ate your pads, damn!! That will dry out the rubber, but just get new ones and treat them right. There is some stuff you can get at sam ash and other places called rubber renu which is good but you have to be careful with it, a bit of it will keep the rubber hydrated.
