what hardware do you use for protools? and do you lay the 8 outs through a mixer before into protools? cus i cant see how it can be more punch when gettin that 8-out boost? the sound can only get as high as 0 db or else it peaks, so volume can't change the punch? so is the boost the same thing as boosting the gain on your soundcard, or the mixer before recording? ah tell me :)

I have the digi 002 for recording and I record everything into itas loud as possible. it never peaks even when it shows clipping, the punch isnt much different from before but on kicks that dont have much bass, i've noticed that they have a harder sound instead of sounding flat. I dont know why it doesnt peak, when I had an MV as soon as it went over 0db everything sounded shitty. I dont know if its the 002 or if its protools. ever when I make final mixes I put the master fader up 4db and it gets the song sounding just as loud as real stuff even tho technically it shouldn't do anything. not as clean cause I'm no engineer. its not the punch from pro tools, its from the 3000 being at a level where it should clip but doesnt and the quality of the 002's anolog inputs i think.
