Shuffle Contest 2k vs. 3k or mpc 60

Hi there...first of all.....thanx for this great forum.

for many years i use my great 2k mpc for all the beat stuff.
i am crazy about tight beats like jazzanova ..dre...d´angelo....did.
but i find it very hard to program.

is it possible that the 3k shuffles tighter than the 2k model ? or the mpc 60

if anyone knows jazzanova,,,,what do you think how did they get the beat so fu*****g tight.

i have heard that the 3k has it´s own groove like the sp.1200
so should i sell my 2k and switch to another model ?

If you like your 2k, you shouldn't sell it.

See if you can try out a 3000 somewhere and see if it does what you are after, because you will be losing some features on the 2k that you may miss and get the 3000 or 60 and find that it doesn't help you get the sound you are after.

I agree that the 3000 has it's own feel just like any piece will. I have tried all of the MPC's and to my mind, the 3000 does swing best. However, you should be able to swing tightly with the 2000. Have you tried using double resolution? Also try recording in triplets (8th note if youre in double res). To me thats a great way to get that head nod sound.

yep. i lay down my basic shit in triplets. than swicth it up for rolls and stuff like that. move timing eralier and later here and there. all good. 2K and 3K are solid machines.

More possible that it's in your drum programmig than in a particular machine.

Yes "denzekiel"...shure...every machine got it´´s own groove, like my tb 303 ...or my emulator II. (it is a pity that the emu has no shuffle mode.)

double resolution..? you mean...if it try a hip hop beat----to make it not at 90bmp...but better at 180 bmp or the other way .at..45 bmp..,?

attack decay..tune..different samples .punch..compression..style....fx...
and ..very important..the other instruments.

there is no "all in one" rule for a ´tight groove. !
but there are different mpc´s and for shure...they´ve got their own groove.

You know I did exactly what you are considering and I have found the change to be difficult. The 2000XL came full of RAM, Outs, FX, Zip and everything worked. I bought a used 3000 and its got issues. The guy lied about RAM. It has the least possible. The internal Zip doesn't work & to top it all off it was easier for me with the 2000. I don't regret getting the 3000, its awesome, but I shouldn't have sold my 2000.

As I've seen here before & didn't listen till I found out myself, stick with what you know.

i had a 2kxl and sold it and got a 60mk1 and dont regret it at all... im still gettin used to it but i wouldn't go back...

Different people vibe with different machines. getting a bad deal on something and that doesn;t work is difficult. wait until you get the 3000 in tip top then get busy and really judge.

I just ordered 32 megs of RAM. Going to invest in a CD-ROM and get Mac editor going too (MPCPGMMaker).... that should get me over the MPC reading WAV files!

I ordered some cool sides from Forat & well as you can see I'm over the screaming part and now onto realization. I've been glued to the manual for the last few days. That, and this forum are really helping me out.

Now, if I could only get that internal zip drive working!

Mpc-60 posesses the bomb ass swing and with a resolution of 96 tps, you can't go wrong.

You gotta love this:
