Using MPC 60 with Computer Software

Does anyone here use their MPC with computer software? I have a MPC 60 coming in the mail soon. I understand that there are no built in effects on the 60 even with the OS 3.1. Right now I'm using Cubase SX3 with a buncha vst-i's and vst effects. I would like to be able to use these along with the MPC. ANy ideas or suggestions?

How do people usually integrate their software with an MPC 60?

I don't have many synths or modules (neither do I plan on getting any soon) so I do not want to daisy chain. I would like to be able to use the virtual instruments along with the 60 as well as the effects. The one synth I do own, I mostly use as a MIDI controller/keyboard as well as an audio interface for my software. It is a Novation X-Station (has two pre-amped 1/4" inputs with onboard DSP as well).

How can I integrate the MPC into my set-up? Should I just record the audio from the MPC into Cubase and add the vst-i's along as if I'm sequencing from the MPC and sequencing from Cubase (for adding the vst-i's)? This is the idea I have so far if anyone can give me some input or adivce I'd greatly appreciate it.

The MPC has excellent MIDI capabilities, but if you're going to be recording your MPC sequences back into Cubase anyway then you're plan seems fine to me.

Would it be possible, after I record a complete sequence, to record a single track from that sequence into Cubase to add effects to it? Or several tracks, but that not the whole sequence, and add specific effects to each track?

Are there better ways to integrate the MPC with the vst-i's other than just recording the master output of the MPC into Cubase SX?

Also, what are the purposes of the different sync options? i.e. the mtc?

Yes, you can record one track at a time and not the whole sequence.

You will want to use MTC to sync your MPC to Cubase.

You should download the MPC60 manual and start reading.

That's how I plan on integrating my MPC with Cubase, as soon as I get that Focusrite card.

Ouch! That RME is kinda steep for me right now. My audio interface has 2 TRS inputs (that also have built in DSP n Phantom Power). So I think I'll probably just track the 8 outputs from the MPC in pairs into Cubase SX.

But by doing this how do I sync up the sound so that all the outputs from the MPC are tracked into Cubase in time with each other?

Would the MTC do that? How is that connected into a soundcard/audio interface?

Again these are all newbie questions. But this is my first time working with hardware.

You need to do two things. Download and read the mpc60 manual and read the guide below so you can understand how things work in a studio.
