my mpc 3000 crashed! error typ 6???

hello!
yesterday my mpc3000 crashed for the SECOND time.
the display said:"everything´s lost, error typ6...."
anybody out there who experienced the same?
i wanted to save my session and BANG.

First have a read of this post ...

Then answer these questions:

1: What is the ROM version of OS loaded in your MPC3000 ?

2: Are you running an updated OS version from a floppy boot ?

3: If so ... which version have you booted from floppy ?

4: How much sampling RAM is installed in your MPC3000 ?

5: How is this RAM configured, see http://www.mpc3000.com/memory_options.htm for comparison details.

6: What type of storage device were you attempting to save onto ?

Error trap 6 is related to a pretty complex failure scenario, one that doesn't happen very often.

Try answering the above questions before the next phase of diagnosis is given.

- NO

- IOMEGA ZIP SCSI DRIVE

PS: ANOTHER PROBLEM OCCURED:
I CANT FORMAT ANY NEW ZIP DRIVES ANYMORE. WITH MY OLD MPC FORMATED ZIPS EVERYTHING´S FINE, SCSI CONNECTION PERFECT. I CAN LOAD , SAVE...
BUT AS SOON AS I TRY TO FORMAT A NEW ZIP MY MPC SAYS "NO SCSI DEVICE IN USE"

try the iso image off the mpc3000.com site. This is what zips normally do when startin up unformatted

Latest ROM OS is 3.16, your not a a 3.16 ROM USER so you must be running the last official AKAI version which is 3.11.

OK ... So at least there is no possibilty of a corrupt floppy disk causing a boot problem.

Vague ... MPC3000LE's depending on territory of shipping could be fitted with either 1 x EXM3008 ( 8 meg ) memory board and nothing else. In some other terrritories they shipped with 1 x EXM3008 ( 8 meg ) and a pair of 4 meg SIMMS to make 16 meg in total.

Go into your sampling screen and tell us all what the maximum sample size is that can be handled.

A SCSI only ZIP drive with an IOMEGA SCSI cable ?

Or a hybrid PARALLEL/SCSI ZIP drive with IOMEGA's included cable ?

100 ? or 250 meg ZIP drive ?

Try manual selection of the SCSI ID to match that of the ZIP drive rather than using the AUTO ID selection function.

(250 MEG / SCSI ONLY / CANT REMEMBER IF ITS THE IOMEGA SHIPPED SCSI CABLE

my iomega 100meg died some weeks ago, so now i´m using the iomega250meg and try to mpc-format 100meg zips with it.
is this the problem? do i need 250meg zips?

already tried the manual scsi search; but as soon as i try to format a new zip..the "no scsi device in use" message appears.

maybe i have to re-install the mpc software??

didn´t know that i cant format 100meg zips on my iomega250 drive.

Just as I was about to reply similarly.

100 meg CARTS can only be "soft/fast/quick" formatted in a ZIP250.

Blame it on Iomega's lame drive firmware.

MPC3000 OS 3.16 contains an updated format routine that allows drives to be "soft/fast/quick" formatted.

As for the memory in your MPC3000. Sounds like you only have 1 x EXM3008 memory board present ( 8 meg ).
