Hi everyone,
i am working with a hiphop producer and we have a problem with his MPC3000.
He works at home with the 3.11 operating system version. One day, he goes to a studio with his zip floppy disk loading his song on an other MPC3000 ( the studio one ) - he didn't check the operating system version of this MPC. He starts to work on his song: cut, copy, ect ... When it's time to come back at home, he wants to load his work on his MPC and he sees that most of his works are gone from the zip. Some entire file are still here, then he tries to load it and the MPC show this error message : "can't load this file because it was created on an mpc with a later operating system version. you must uograde the operating system in this unit before reading this file.". And when he just wants to load a sound, the MPC shows : "this file is internaly corupted and can't be loaded : its internal tip ID doesn't match its 3 letter name extension."
What can we do to resolve this problem ? Do we just need to update his MPC 3000 to the 3.16 operating system version ?
Regards,
julien A.

3.11 in ROM ?

Or ...

3.11 booted off floppy from an earlier version in ROM ?

Then please get him to do this and let the list know.

Which version is in ROM and if any other version was being run from floppy disk.

Could indicate a version conflict but not necessarily.

Regardless of the MPC3000 operating system that is running; internal file version ID tags are the same.

The only time this version conflict message gets displayed is when the data on disk can not be read correctly... or, when the file is created on an MPC2000/2000XL ( or other incompatible MPC ).

This sounds like your ZIP drives are misbehaving.

This issue has been observed and confirmed on the MPC3000 list at yahoogroups.

Another user experienced similar problems with a failing Magneto Optical Drive.

User DVDBORN ( also on this list ) said in post:

Certainly try but I think the problem is more to do with malfunctioning storage devices.

Thanks for all yours answers ...
In fact, we already had the idea to make the update to the 3.16 but the problem is that we don't reach to install it ...Is there anyone who can explain us clearly how to install it ?

Explained quite clearly in English ( sorry, not in French ) within the *.PDF that comes with the download.

1: How to boot it from floppy disk.

2: Or to contact the developer regarding obtaining the update in ROM chips.
