Can anyone suggest something? I'm sure there's a simple answer.

Here's the situation:
-I play the internal samples from the MPC3000 onto track 1 to create a track with the kick and snare.
-I then go to track 2. Here, I plan to record a hi hat pattern using the sound from an external sound module from the MPC pads.
-I change the track type to Drums (as the manual states) and I can hear the hats.

-Problem is...... I can also hear the MPC3000 internal kit!

Can't I trigger just the hats? I know it's possible but I can't help but think I've done something wrong.

Anybody?

turn local off in the midi page.

That's the first thing I tried. If I turn local off, I can't trigger the internal kits on a seperate track.

That's my point. I want to use both (interanl and external sounds) in a sequence but not literally on the same track.

Anymore suggestions?

I'm suprised that it seems that not many have had this problem.

Uh, turn local off to trigger your external synth tracks, Turn it back on for drums??

Really, this isn't a big issue.

first reord your drums

then turn off local mode and record the sounds.
