Reading MPC60 partitions on my PC

First post on here just wanna say hello to everybody.

I've searched the archives for an answer to my question but I didn't find anything so don't get mad hehe. I'd like to know if there is a way that I can switch partitions when I read an mpc60 os 3.1 formated zip disk on my pc. Under windows98 i can only access the first partition which limits the number of file I can transfer to the mp to 224. Given that a zip disk is 100mbs that's kind of a waste of space. Is there a program I can use or is there a way around it instead of having to sample each file one by one? Will mpceditor let me do that cuz i would gladly give the author 30$ just for that one feature Let me know if you don't understand! Thanks

What you should do is have an MPC 60 disk that you save all your stuff on, and a windows transefr disk also mpc formatted. Anything you want to transfer to the PC save on this disk, then transfer, or put mpc files from the computer on the transfer disk, load it into the 60, then save to your main disk.

My main sample disk never sees the PC.

You should get the Editor anyway, you don't know what you are missing.

I cannot think of any legitmate reason to transfer the files to a PC. Maybe you can explain what you are trying.

yeah, it was kinda weird to me, I only though backup or more editing, but that's a bit of a stretch.

I am trying to go from PC to MPC just to clear things up.

Thing is I don't want to have to load a program into the mpc to save it to different partitions.

Ok, I'll give y'all a concrete example. Let's say I have 50 kits with each 30 sounds on my computer. That's 1500 sounds right. I want to put those on a zip disk to read and use in my mpc. Windows98 can only access the first partition so I can only transfer 224 files at a time from my computer to the mpc. That's why I was wondering if there was a program that allowed me to access mpc partitions, then what I could do is to put like 2 kits into each partitions and be able to transfer all 1500 sounds from computer to mpc. The transfer disk thing I thought of but that's kind of time consuming. I hope you all get what I saying, sorry for the misunderstanding. Anyway thanks for the responses

the mpc can only read that number of files per partition too.

maybe check the iomega website for their soft ware.

It is not that hard to do.

1500/224 = about 8, in your case. So how bad is 7 transfers? I think you could have been done already. I've transferred 10,000 sounds in a single day.

I asked my question as to not waste my time if there ever was such a program and also out of curiosity. Anyway, why do you keep giving me vague answers that try to make it sound like you know your stuff to distract me from the fact that you can't answer my question? I was expecting something like, "good point that would be really handy" If you can't bring something constructive to my suggestion (which is what my post was) then don't say nothing or at least tell me that you do not know of any program able to read partitions. That would be a lot more helpful. I don't appreciate the fact that you automatically assume that I am some lazy newbie. You sound like a disgruntled "back-in-the-day" head. That ish is annoying. I have to say though, your site is a great resource.

I've been thinking the same thing you are with my mpc 3000. Its worse. A zip 100 formatted by the mpc3000 will only read 124 files per partition. MPC editor will only read what windows reads. So the editor, in your case will only import 224 files on the first partition because that's what Win98 reads. So that answers your second question.. But the MPCeditor is hot though, dont get me wrong. Its cool for auditioning sounds and assinging pads.

I mainly use the MPCeditor for converting mpc 2000 sound files to mpc3000 files to a zip. But after I dump all of the sound from the disk to the mp, I have to delete all of the pgms and sounds on this transfer zip disk using the MPC. If you try to delete these sounds in Winexplorer, you will also delete the mpc formatting. So this is where it becomes painfully long for me. There doesnt appear to be a way to delete sounds using the MPC editor. So either I delete manually in the mpc or reformat the disk. There could be a better way, but I dont know what that is.

Hey, I think thats a good question, you just want to know how to get your PC to read all 4 partitions of the disk, search the yahoo MPC3000 group, the answer is in there somewhere.

No disrespect to anyone. Your question is a good one. I asked it myself once. Not here though. And Doveski is right. The answer that I got is at the Yahoo MPC3000 or MPC60 group...and The brother that you're sorta beefing with, MPC3000 contributed significantly to that answer.

In short, I learned that it may be possble, but involves some serious code knowledge and work. If time is money, the 7 transfers may be much easier.
