Yo, the other day I was using my MPC (60, OS 3.1, full mem, no SCSI) and had some bass samples, a horn lick, a kick and some snares loaded up. I took the bass samples and made a bassline and had the sequence running and as I was listenin, I could my other samples playing at random at a very low volume. Not loud enough to completely ruin the beat, but enough to get kind of annoying. I know its not just BG noise from where I got the bass from cuz my other samples came from different records. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem or knows what It may be. I do keep my set up in the garage which is somewhat of a moist environment, but not moist to the point where I wet my hands touching my gear. I haven't touched my MPC since it happened so I'm going to try making a new beat and see if it happens again, but in the meantime any help would be great.

this happens a lot, a common problem, no one has the cure

I think it's the problem of bad RAM but I've yet to replace mine to see if it's the culprit.

I did replace the pad sensors which helped my pads out significantly but haven't had enough time to run through the old tracks and see if that was the problem.

this is like a hushed issue around here really, for some reason, I can't stand it...gonna get new RAM soon and report back

it used to happen alot on my 3k. havent noticed much on the 60 tho. come to think of it, all my samplers(emax, eps, eps rack, mpc60, 3k, yamaha tx) do this from time to time. noticed it most on 3k since i spent the most time on it.

K, Last night I hopped on the box and did not have that problem but had another. I Sampled a piano riff, made 3 chops of it, then sampled a horn lick. After that I went to sample another piano and it played back fine during sampling and did not clip,l but when I went to listen to it afterward, a few seconds in i got a "tick tick tick tick" like when someones getttin a cell call near a speaker. I turned my phone off and sampled it again, same thing same spot. I sped the record to 45 and got more of the sample, but same thing the same amount of time in. So then I saved my good samples, shut down my machine and the 1st thing i did was resample that part and it was fine. It cool that I found a way to work with it but its a pain in the ass. Has anyone else had this problem b4. I'm not sure, I gotta do a lil experiment, but I think it might just be bad addresses in sample memory. Like once it has to save and recall to a certain address its corrupt. I sure hope not tho.

Well, I just got in from playin wit my MPC and narrowed it down to the last 14 seconds of free memory gets that machine gun fire tick noise in it, and its loud enough to ruin beats. The worst part is it doesn't matter if I just sampled it that moment, or loaded a good sample off a disc, or made a chop from a sample thats in the machine, if its held in the final 14 secs, it gets screwed up. It seems to me like the memory chip holding those addresses has either gone bad, or hopefully just needs to be reseated. I think I might have to call Forat on this one.

yeah, I don't get that last thing you mentioned ever...maybe replace the RAM, somwhere sells 60 RAM with a lifetime warranty, forget where though

also, I've very rarely been able to sample a good bassline in the 60 without the first part clipping, don't know what's up with that either

Did you make sure that you didn't clip at the attack? If that is the case use a limiter on the way in or just sample it a little lower and you can jack the beat up as a whole later. If that don't work then thats a weird problem you got there.

I called Forat yesterday and it sounds like memory to him as well so Ima have to send it out to him to fix, unless you know where I can get just the memory (Full 26.2 secs) sent to my house.
