MPC60II PROBLEM

Ok, so I've had the MPC60ii for a while, always used it to sequence the S950.
Now I'm trynna sample from the internal Drum Generator of the MPC itself. I can sample sounds and assign them to a program.
Then when I go to MAIN SCREEN and press the pads where the sounds are assigned I hear nothing. When I record a loop I hear the metro, I just press the pads, then in playback I heard the sounds from the pads I pressed correctly.
Problem is I can't hear them in realtime (not through stereo outputs or headphones either) - real disturbing.

I'm thinkin I've got my settings wrong somehow, but I just can't figure out what. I'm running OS 3.01 btw. Someone?

That should not happen based on what other 3.01 users say in terms of sampling the sound and then sampling another sound cause with 2.12 or any of those older OS you can't go back and forth and sample and assign to pads cause the pads clear themselves everytime you go to sample something new.
