MPC3000 CD Drive Compatability

Just wondering if anyone had a list of compatible SCSI CD Drives for the MPC 3000. I just bought an NEC drive, but my MPC won't recogize the SCSI drive. Can anyone help me out?

What type of CD-ROM are you trying to read with this SCSI CD drive ?

Akai formatted groove or sound CDs.

NEC SCSI drives don't work with any AKAI samplers to my knowledge.
Most other brand drives should be ok though from what I've heard.

If you're just trying to read the CD's into the MPC I'm pretty sure you could just import the files onto a computer and then transfer them to the MPC using another method (zip drive, floppy disk, hard drive, card reader etc).
