Bad service from Route 66 Anyone.......?

wow, I got what I asked for - full disclosure

that's always nice to see, gotta respect that after all the animosity.

my beef was back in summer 2005 where i paid for the 3.10 chips and didnt receive them for AGES afterwards, we are talking months. yes i was in the uk but i have ordered heavy books from australia and had them arrive in 2 days for 8 dollars shipping (sitepoint.com). the chips eventually turned up with a photocopied manual and 4 floppy discs that didnt work.

the biggest issue i had was the communication, or lack of it. it seems like andy eventually apologised for all aspects but the "we didnt receive your email" or "we are getting emails from you daily" messages conflicted each other and gave the impression their internal infrastructure consisted of a commodore 64 computer that only worked on wednesdays running My First Operating System.

then i used to look at the website for clues and was always amazed at archaic was - and still is! seeeeriously in need of a makeover, but probably less of a priority than tidying the office and kicking your couriers backside!

still, if you are serious about improving, i genuinely wish you well. time will tell.

Earwolf thanks for responding and sorry for the delay, at this point I have no Idea what could have been the hold up on your order but I do apologize for the delays and service response.

The ver 3.10 manual was my idea as none of the 3.10 chipset kits we received had them included, I figured this would be a nice touch so you wouldn't have to download it later. I still have a few left.

I agree the old site served it purpose back in the stone ages and the AOL server we are on is just awful. I think you will like the new site, we are adding many new features and an improved layout to speed ordering, not sure if you noticed by the new address but we also moved into a new location (Janesville WI) that is now setup so we can process orders quicker.

Things we are adding to the new site: Customer Used gear classified section, open topics Forum, Synth museum/resource page, order tracking, shipping selector, shopping cart, search keyword, over 300 new items, links page, repair shop locator, in house tech service, and more.

Wow!!! Well, well what do you think guys ROUTE 66 speaks ups after years of silence? Will this turn down the noise advising all NOT to do busniess with ROUTE 66? I admit I decided long ago to beware of these folks after hearing all the negative comments. Now, I must add that there were some that had some good expriences with Route 66 in the past. Hopefully, Route 66 can get off the MPC-Tutor Forum poop list.

I ordered a manual from them, it was slow to ship but did arrive.
I ordered the Linn 60 chips from them and they were slow to arrive.
In both cases I couldn't get easy responses from them but the items were what they were supposed to be when they arrived.
Last year a friend needed a floppy for his SP and he complained about the cost he was finding them for, so I told him get it from 66.
I just explained to him it would be a little slow to arrive so he would understand up front.
The reason I still recommended them was that after I received my eproms for the 60, I did eventually hear from 66 and they explained to me the reasons why my orders took the amount of time they did.
It really had to do with how they process and prepare the orders, but my real complaint wasn't about the time frame it was more about communication.
Just communicating with customers about order status and expected ship time would help many situations.

If you have done business with them it easier to understand but for that first time order it can be pretty scary not knowing what's going on.

ntalec, Sorry about the slow delivery times, that's one of the things we are working on this year to speed up the turnaround time to a couple of days.
I'm glad to hear that all arrived and is exactly what you expected.

DEEPDOWNINSIDE, Actually we are on many forums as most of us that work here are gear whores and synth collectors. It helps to share info and do a bit of listening/research as well, this allows us connect with other users and see what parts or issues on vintage gear are needed.

I do wish I joined this group a few years ago.
