Weve talked about this before.
Its like sampling a 33 1/3 rpm record at 45rmp with the pitch at +8 and then tuning down at -66 on the mpc60 so that you have the original key note of the sample.
In this case, the OS3.10 does the resampling internally. If you have your sample tuned at 0 then it pitch shifts it at +120 and plays it back at -120.
The original sampling rate is 40khz so mathematically the new sampling rate should be 20khz. Works great with Bass Drums, Snares, Bassline loops and stuff, but it may not be good for cymbals, crashes and hihats unless you want your hihat lo-fi.
Its like sampling at a lower sample rate. The mpc60 has a default rate of 40khz. Sampling at 20khz would save you memory space, so sampling the sound faster and then tuning down will save you space and sound like its a lower sample rate.
You can try this: when you want to compress a hihat (or a high frequency sound that sounds bad when you compress it) try tuning it higher. Try +60. Press "Do" and the mpc will compress the sound and tune it at -60. Play the sample and it will still be faster. Then tune it at -120 and you have the original pitch again but not compressed that much.
Now the new sampling rate is between 40khz and 20khz so i guess it would be something like 30khz.
I just got the OS3.10 2 weeks ago and this is what ive come up to.
Peace!
