REPLACING FUSES

I have a friend of mine who recently got a used 3ooo
he replaced the backlight foil but the screen still doesnt light up
despite displaying the text clearly
he asked me about the fuses
I told him that they are 125V 8oomA fuses
he asked me if he could replace them with 250V 1A fuses
I told him I didn't know because I've only used exact replacements
we're in USA so there's no problem with plug voltage or step-downs
I figured this would be a good question to ask as many others are probably curious

NO! Only the exact fuse. Do not risk it , it can damage the board and or cause circuitry to overheat potentially causing fire.

slap ya boy upside the head. like ^^^ said exact replacements, it aint like there hard to get hold of.

Fuses should only be replaced with values intended for the power supply territory designations indicated.

actually I found out that those fuses have been discontinued for commercial usage
I'll try to get some from Bruce Forat for him

You will still be able to get the correct value fuses.

They may be presented differently though, same size, same values but likely to be enclosed in a safety shield. ( to protect against fuse explosion in extreme circumstances )

I think if the fuses need to be replaced the mpc wouldn't work in the first place. Also, if the fuse even blew in the first place something is wrong inside his mpc. I don't think replacing a fuse will fix the problem.

You can get the fuses from VST too.

U check Radio Shack for the fuse???
Just a thought to save some skrilla.

I asked him that
and he told me that the cat @ RS told him they'd been discontinued
and that they only had the 125v 1A and the 125v 75omA
but not the 8oomA
I took a look @ his machine on the inside
and it's not the fuses at all
all of them are intact
but his screen still doesn't light up
I told him that it may be his power supply
but I'm not sure since I've never had that problem from my 3K LE

did you fix the problem? i got the same problem right now...

nah he still has the problem

i just blew the fuse in my 300

at least i hope its the fuse...
