s950 midi synch problem

Word people! I didn't know where to post this, so I hit it here where the old school heads hang out. Anyway, just got my s950 and that **** is way too old school for me to figure out.

The manual is the worst thing ever written on a piece of paper, so please don't start with the usual RTFM shit.

I got two problems: first I can't figure out how to get a proper stereo out in every keygroup. Either I get them playing on one side or I have to create 2 identicals and place them one out1 and out2, etc. Wtf?! What is going wrong? It's supposed to play stereo when placed on out 00, right?

Also, I got the baby hooked up on my 2kxl. Now, every time I record a track, lets say a hihat, then I go to the next track to record a snare, but the **** won't play cause it gets overlapped by the hihat. I guess there's something wrong with the polyphony settings on the 950. Any words on where I can fix that? I've tried to play both on global MIDI channel from the 950 and different assigned channels but even though everything is triggered fine from the MPC, the same shit happens when I record them.

Any help would be higly appreciated as I can't wait to record a beat from that monster! Those mids are killing me!

but, it's a mono sampler, if you want stereo sound cop an S1000 or when you get your track into your DAW, copy the sound pan each copy hard left/hard right, and flip the phase of one

also, if you have hats or something that hits all the time assign that to a seperate out, that's the only way to get sounds to cut each other is to assign them to the same out

Like Detail said, it's a mono sampler. So you can't expect to get a stereo signal from the mix out, because it's a mono jack.

You might want to look into how keygroups work. To make it work like you're used from the MPC, you need to assign each sample to one keygroup, define the note range (keys) for these keygroups (you can actually make it a one-key keygroup), then the samples will respond to the corresponding note (pad) pressed on the MPC.

Damn thing! If it wasn't for the sound, I would sell it immediately. Anyway, now I start to understand what the hell is going on. My 2kxl looks like rocket technology compared to that. Thnx for the input Deta!L

_Stilo_, I ain't got a problem with the keygroups anymore. After 4 hours and a couple of punches on my desk, I figured out how to set those samples up.

Still, those kicks sound just like from Paradise man. And I thought that whole "signature" sound was an urban legend. Hail to that era man, next purchase is a godamn MPC60!

The sound aint no myth bro, thats for damn sure. you should here what a emax I does to drums. only the die hard NUKAI MPC users swear there aint no difference.

I wish I could get my hands on an SP, but that monster is way up on my price range.

I have also checked the EMAX, but not sure if it is usable enough to get the basic things running.

I also agree about the new skool heads. Those guys can't even distinguish between goods pads and MPD pads. Whatever...

I am trying to record on the sampler and although I got a clear signal from my Line in to the Monitor on the back, when I go to the START WITH page and set it either to any key(1) or audio level(3) in the next page I don't get any signal through. WTF again?! The meter won't read anything and of course won't record anything. Any suggestions on what is going on?

wish i could help homie. I got a s950 but havent dug into it yet. Iam still rocking the asr/3k combo.

There's a Rec Level and a Monitor Level pot in the front, did you check those?

something about rack samplers, i just dont find comfort in them. thats why never amped about diggin into the s950. The emax i would just sample and resample the whole sample in asr and chop and edit in the asr.

oh well one day i will.
