MPC 60 + TG33

I just bought a TG33 tone generator. How do I set it up to be controlled by my MPC 60? I know very little about MIDI...so flip answers aside, where do I start in the manual?

I would check out the manual on the 60 , it show's alittle midi diagram.

But if you are using the mpc60 as a "controller" then all you need is midi out of the mpc to midi in of the TG33 . If you have more then one piece of gear you need to connect it to the threw of the TG33 then to the next instruments threw. This creates a midi loop. Then you just need to setup each instrument to "listen" to a certain channel. A midi cable has 16 different channels available. These different channels which the information is sent is changed on the main screen of your MPC. Right near the program name.

Thanks. I set up everything and no results. I want to be able to play notes from the TG33 on the MPC and sequence them. I push the pads and hear nothing. My output source is the TG33. I tried MIDI a few times before and got frustrated because I couldn't get any output...so I'm not sure how else to proceed and I am frustrated after re reading the MIDI sections in both manuals. Thanks again for the tips...any more would be appreciated.

MIDI channel has nothing to do with AUDIO channel. Just imagine your MIDI cables as keyboard or mouse cables. The only connect controllers, don't expect any sound to come through them.

So, hook up you MIDI out from the 60 to the MIDI in of the TG33. Then, go to the midi page of the 60 and set it up to transmit on channel 1 or 1a, whatever, just be the first channel. Then go to the TG33's midi page and set it to receive on channel 1. Then hook up the AUDIO outs of the TG33 to your mixer, and whoop! you got sound.

Thanks. I had it setup the way you described. My output is the TG33 - meaning I am using the headphones out on it to listen for sound. Where is the TRANSMIT page on the MPC? I know where the MIDI page is but it does not explicitly say "transmit to a particular channel". Regardless, I have the TG33 set to recieve all channels. I feel stupid. I do notice that on the 60 MIDI page when use hit 4 - NOTE OFF the TG33 responds. What am I missing?
