MPC 60II Floppy Drive Died?

So i recently upgraded my 60 to the 3.10e os and now i think my disk drive just took a dump. Everytime i try to load a floppy i get the message, ''There is no floppy disk in the drive. Please insert a disk. [Error code: FF60]''. I checked all connections and have tried many disks. I am guessing it was just its time to go. Can anyone recommend the best place for a new 60 floppy drive? Thanks in advance. And in the mean time ill be searching the forum

Wow, on top of bad or slow service rumors from Route 66, they want $74 for a replacement floppy drive!!

and VST $90

Got my new floppy drive from VST today. Installed it and powered up. Disk read/write light stayed on continuously. Tried to load and got the same error. I was like I proceeded to call VST and ask if there was anything else i could try. They said no and I should probably send it to them to have it serviced. I called Bruce Forat and he said since the light stays on then the floppy cable is probably upside down. I flipped over the cable and viola! Disk drive works perfectly!! The cable has to be flipped around from the stock position and also, theres a notch in the PCB of the floppy drive that made me assume thats how it went because of the notch on the cable.


DOPE! My 60 is back in action and the memory expansion arrived the same day and now I got a fully expanded 60 except for scsi. Back to work!

VST is more reliable than Forat imo
since VST is more established and has better policy i would choose them if
dont want to risk a hastle finding the right drive and all that

I went with VST because theyre chargine $90 vs. $150 at Forat for a new drive. But i have never had a problem with Bruce's service. speedy shipping and great over the phone support. Even if its not concerning a product you bought from him, just MPCs in general. I bought the ram expansion and a new power connector for the mains from him. Great service everytime.

But yeah, VST drives work with no jumper configuring needed. Plug & play just flip the floppy cable upside down when connecting it to the disk drive.
