Mpc60/MK1-MK2--MPC3000

Hi,

can some tell me the differents between a Mpc60 and a mk2.

Have the Mpc 3000 a dirty sound like a 12 bit maschine or is it like a MPC2000

THe difference between the MK1 & MK2 is Headphone Jack & Tilt Screen & ARm Rest.
The 3000 is not gritty or dirty soundin like a 12 bit machine it is more like a 2000 cause they are both 16/44.1

I've owned both and choose the 60 over the 3k for the last couple years but i'm starting to make a move back towards the 3k b/c it has a newer os that I like.

Do you have both units? If so, can you load 60II samples, sounds, sequences, and programs into the 3000?

I have both.. diff for me is 60 has less less memmory.. and the new os in my 3000 kills it.
And the sound.. if you realy wanna hear diff.. find yourself a sp 1200

I have a 3000, but wanted get the 12bit MPC 60II. Do you think that is a wise move. Still keeping the 3000, though!

I have heard mostly that the MPC60 is not so dirty and gritty even though it's 12 bit. It really even convert the analog audio to 16 bit and then stores and plays back the samples in 12 bit. It's pretty much the same with the two new O.S.es for the machines. But of cource a little difference in sound.

I love my MPC3000, but when I want grit, I use my SP1200. That's dirty and gritty. Maybe because it has only half the sampling frequency as the 60? And some crazy things happens in the SP1200 when pitching sounds, especially pitching down.

Many people think that all gear that is 12 bit is gritty or dirty. The S-950 for example, can be both. The sampling frequency can be higher than CD's, and it can sound pretty clean! But you can lower the sampling rate to get a gritty or dirty sound. But the 60 is fixed at 40kHz, which is pretty clean, especially compared to the SP...

So if it's gritty sound you are after, maybe the MPC60 will not satisfy you fully? Maybe it would be better to get a SP1200 or a S-950 to use together with your 3000? You can sample with the SP1200 and then resample to the 3000 if you like to work in one machine only. In that case you could also get a SP12 turbo, which is cheaper.

Maybe the 60 is so much alike you 3000, maybe you should try something different and new.

Personally for me I have not used the 3000 that much after I got the SP1200. The SP is so fast and fun to work with, and to me it sounds so good. Everything else almost sounds boring. But for more advanced beats, the 3000 is still killin it, and I still love it!

Thanks! I'm going to try a S900 or S950 for right now. I got the 3000 about six months ago. Been doing made $h*t with it, especially since I maxed out the memory. Was using my 4000 mostly before. But now, I start on the 3000 because I can then load everything in the 4000 from the 3000.

deck daddy you are making want an SP-1200 even more. I love vintage gear, but didn't worry about the sp1200 after I got the 3000. The sp1200 are hard to find and rather expensive still!

The SP is the dopest gear, because it's fast and easy, and most important: it's sounding good! It has that sound automatically, which people are trying to get when doing all kinds of stupid things.

I bet you can find the SP1200 for a decent price over in the US.

And a 60 costs money to, so you just have to save up a little more money.

You can of course get rid of the SP later if you need money or don't like it. -You can sell it to me: I want to be set for life, and it would be fresh to have one in every room

Try to find a place where you can try one out.

Word !.. i might buy a second sp to.. a re-ish.. then i have both.
I do the drums and stuff in the sp and samples + seqeunce in the 3000.
I also have the 60 the 950 and the asr-10. i dont use them.
