What's the purpose of having 32mb in your MPC 3000???

Question,Why you need with all that memory to lay a song down?? Plus,
doesn't the 3000 only recognize 30mb of ram anyway?? So what's the Purpose??

Thats a good question....I sometimes think about that too....BUT a better question is why does the mpc4000 need a 80 gig harddrive? Just curious

to hold longer/higher quality samples
i wish the mpc 60 could have 30mb, thatd be heaven

I was high and thinking how cool it would be to have a 3000 inside a 60 mk I case.

Then I sobered up and saw what a pain that would be. and you'd lose the 12 bit goodness.

With 32MBs you have much more leverage to use all kinds of stuff. Include background vocals, excerpts from the lead vocal and so on. And since folks began to use stereo sampler more and more when the MPC3000 was created, I think that is another reason.

stereo sampling is underated. lots of these old records are mixed real creativley and when you sample in mono you miss the panning or what have you. i just picked up on that.

but the main question, 32mb gives you two minutes (dont quote me on that) more sampling time, simple.

To store all the songs&sequences with programs and samples.. In fact 80GB is nothing! You can hook up 2 internal IDE drives (each 160GB if you like) + a SCSI hard disk + unlimited USB hard drives (USB hub)! And on top of that you can transfer all your stuff via USB to a computer (drag and drop)
