MPC60 mkII and the SCSI ZIP incident

Hello, funky people.

I recently bought a MPC MkII, with the latest OS (3.10) installed.
Unfortunately, the floppy disk was dead. So I bought an SCSI ZIP drive, connected it to my MPC and turned it on.

PROBLEM: the MPC 60 doesn't see the SCSI ZIP device.

I pushed 'disk', then '8' and it says there's no SCSI device connected.

So, is it the MPC that lies, or the SCSI ZIP drive that's dead ? (I bought it on eBay).

Do you have the Marion SCSI upgrade? Did you read up about the MPC 60 before buying it?

No, sir. Actually, i bought it from a french hip hop band that used it with their own scsi zip driver, assuming it should work with mine! At that time, i didn't knew i had to read the manual. Unfortunately, there's nothing in it about scsi external memory devices...

assuming you're hooking it up scsi, do you have a terminator?

Is the Termination on the back of the SCSI Zip drive set to ON and what Termination ID do you have it set to 5 or 6?

Hm, I see: there is no term switch on my SCSI ZIP 100 drive... Actually, I don't even know what a terminator is supposed to look like (except this: ), but the SCSI ZIP 100 drive has a regular 25 pin SCSI connector, just like my MPC.

Please, understand that I read the V31 Manual (the "Using the Marion Systems MPC-SCSI Interface for External Hard Disk Storage" part) and still don't understand a thing about what to do...

Have you tried the switch's on the back of the zip drive like 714 Beats suggested ?
You have to make sure the MPC and the drive are set to different ID's.

This and are you sure you have the scsi upgrade? It should not be this hard

open her up and look if you have the scsi installed, its only 6 screws

Well the guy I bought it from used it with his own Scsi Zip, so i know it's supported.

But i can't find any goddamn switch at the rear of my Scsi zip 100 device...

You can't use the one you have. You need the one with SCSI Termination Switch on the back.
