MPC60 midi problem.Help Please?

I want so say hello to every person in this forum. I just bought an MPC60 today an its the very first time i ever use one. Im having trouble with using the mpc as a midi sequencer, I have an midi/audio interface that i connect to my pc through usb to connect the mpc.

so when i plug the midi cable into the mpc in Midi out 1 and then to my interface to Midi In then I open the program which is FL Studio 9, and nothing happens. the guy that sold me the mpc told me i had to mess with the midi settings of the mpc. but i did for the past 3 hours and nothing. I am really really new at this so I could use any help

What are you trying to do? Do you want to trigger FL with the mpc or should the mpc control some softsynth or whatever? Or do you want to sequence the mpc in FL just using it's sound generator

Thanks for your reply. well I'm trying to use the MPC as a midi controller so that I can press a pad and have sounds from FL like samples or drums.

When i open FL studio it recognizes the usb midi interface, it says its there and that its connected, so i have my mpc connected to my usb interface through midi cable, midi out 1 in the mpc and midi in into the interface, but when i play a pad nothing happens!!

someone told me to take a look at the midi settings on the mpc, which gives me like 4 options but like i said im really new at this I've never touched an mpc before, if some one could help me that could be awesome.. thanks

I suggest that you get used to using the mpc by itself and getting familiar with it.

You've only had it a day or two so take things ONE STEP AT A TIME.

Check that the MPC is actually working properly, and that you are comfortable with it BEFORE moving on...

can you use the 60 with the older OS as a padcontroller to trigger external stuff? I would have thought 34 notes would not be enough for it to do any good even if I knew how to change the midi note number of a pad. (never tried that) however what I do sometimes to is run the axiom to trigger the sound module and from that I got midi in/out to the mpc so it records the notes.

Thanks everyone for your reply, yes ive only had the mpc for a couple of days now, but i do not own a turn table to get the samples into the mpc and it came with a few but wack sounds on disks to play with. thats why i need to hook it up so i can work with FL.

Is the mpc the problem? then i pressed the MIDI button it gives me 4 options, what should i do to make it work??? pleaseee help me

Does having the 3.03 OS give you more notes or does that only happen in the 3.10 OS ?

yeah, dude mentions you can get 64 notes on v3.10 (due to the additional banks) which is pretty sweet if you dont have a keyboard.

Just tested my 60 with 3.03 OS and you also get 4 pad banks. Which is awesome

Don't forget you need also to make the correct midi settings in Fruityloops to.

Don't expect it to work if only the MPC is set right.

Can't help as I've never used FL, and probably never will.

It will be in the FL incoming midi settings, some way to split incoming midi to 16 tracks in the DAW.
