Anyone read the keyboard mag interview? She loves it, she mentions that there is a newer smaller one but she likes the 3000 so much that she doesn't want to switch.

Pretty cool that some pop cats get into their gear.

she isn't, she writes her songs on it. The MPC is a lot more than just beats. Beethoven would have killed for one...

yeah elma I'm agreeing that  !!

Tracks production, and being a producer is A LOT MORE then just beat-making...

yeah she probably uses it mainly to sequence keys, but who knows, she may sample with it too. The article talks a little about it, and has her posing sexy, but not nude.

You aint the only one.

I got her second album though, and the shit dont sound real "pop" if thats what you wanna call it. 90% of the drums sounded programmed. A couple tracks mightve been live drums. But i wouldnt be surprised if thats what she uses as the centerpiece of her production.

OK, here's part of the text that makes me think she is definately way cool, cuz girls never get this deep into gear.. ;)

"KB: In addition to playing Piano, you're using other Keyboard instruments like the RHodes and Clavinet. Do you write on these?

AK: Definately. I have a Wurly on the road that is just sick. It's just the best wurly on the planet. You touch it and it plays itself. Things happen when you play it.
When I was in France, I was finishing up my album, and there was this crazy Clavinet that was completely broken and busted. I mean, it hadn't been tuned in I don't know how long. And it was so fly. You could come up with these crazy lines and they were kinda off and wrong and flat and sharp, but it gave a feel to it. Different sounds make you play different things.
I have a studio that travels with me, one that's in my crib, and I have a full studio that I just got. I like to be able to create. Before I'll buy cars and clothes, it's equipment first for me. I just got all these crazy [digidesign] Pro Tools Plugins that have the most unreal sounds on them.

KB: What's your essential "desert Island" gear?

AK: I'm getting more into travelling with Pro Tools, so it's strictly my Mac, my digi 002, and my [Akai] MPC3000- I'm sticking with that even though they now have one that's smaller. I can't change.
And now that I have all of my plug ins, I don't need to travel with any other gear. I have a nice little mini keyboard, and I sequence through the MPC. I don't like to sequence in the computer, it doesn't feel right to me."

C'mon Fam.... Really (sheesh!)

This is the forum on this site that gets to me the most. You can't get dudes to talk about Midi mapping or Automated Mixing and Detail Programming but you can always find some who wants to gloat about how great the MPC 60 and 3k is cuz Roger linn design it, or this or that. We know what the 3k does for Babyface, Rafael Sadiq, Alicia Keys, Dr,Dre, Premo, etc let's talk about it will do you us....... Beethoven is long Gone and wouldn't know how to one if he saw one.
