Mpc60 needs repair Can i buy parts for this thing?

i ran across a mpc 60 for $200 with version 3.10 and max memory with a headphone jack added (i couldn't pass it up) the previous owner didn't want to deal with having it fixed. It comes on sometimes and works fine and then it'll say memory lost software 06h failure or sometimes it'll just make a low hum noise and the screen blanks out and lines run across it. I cracked it open and unplugged and plugged all the connectors to check them out. i noticed that on the plug that comes from the power supply the connector is burnt where the black wire connects. And when the 60 goes out if i tap the harness it comes back on (all memory erased of course). Can i buy this harness plug or whole power supply somewhere?
Now with the software 06h issue i talked to roger linn and he said version 3.10 had bugs and i should upgrade to 3.10e but he wasn't sure that would fix that problem because it could be a hardware problem. I don't wanna spend a ton of money on this thing because i already have a 3000 that works fine i just got caught up in the moment and bought the 60. If someone could guide me on how to fix this thing myself or point me to somewhere i can get it fixed for a resonable price that would be great. Thanks!!!

I wouldn't monkey around inside unless you know what you are doing.

Should i just send it to any Akai service center or is there some other place less expensive that still does good work??

You could check if the power connector is making good contact, if not, and it looks like you can replace it yourself, it might be good. But be careful.

Where are you?

I think that might be the problem because on the hole where the black wire goes it appears to have been getting hot for a while because its melted and the hole is now round (and larger) instead of square like the others. If i could find another plug it should be as easy as just cutting and crimping but i would rather replace the whole power supply that way i dont have to cut anything. I'm in Cali Bay Area. thanks again for responding

Go to the Akai site and find an authorized service center that can fix it for you. Since you only paid $200 for it with OS 3.10, unless repairs cost more that $600, you still got a great deal OS 3.10 alone is $200!

power supplies are rare and expensive. don't mention it to the tech and let him tell you if it's necessary.

The akai service center quoted me $320 to fix the 60 more than i expected but i gotta do it i'm in to deep now i guess. The power supply was bad (elmarco you were right they are expensive) and he said he would go over the entire pcb board and change or fix anything he thought would be a future problem(he used a term for this i think washing or something). You are near the break even point with this repair. If the service center finds anything else wrong with that MPC60 you should consider backing out of all or part of the repair. Shipping charges have to be paid too. What condition is this box in cosmetically? For $200 conditions don't sound very good. I would have resold it for the same or higher and gotten out of that situation.

Yeah it sounds kinda steep for a power supply and some mystery pcb work huh? I guess he figured anybody desperate enough to bring a 16 year old drum machine in will either pay $320 or never pick it up so he could fix it and Ebay it. He said $320 is the max he'll charge though. But hey what can i do if he doesn't fix it he wants $69 for checkin it out. Then i'll be $269 in a dead 60. I'll be better off $520 into it working.(it came with the 3.10 upgrade and a headphone jack added) There is no shipping the akai center is local and cosmetically it's decent 7.5 out of 10. Wouldn't have been a bad price if i was looking to buy one.

Yo, what is version 3.10E? I've never heard of that. Is everyone upgraded to that?
