The hidden power of your MPC3000

For most of the late 90s & early 2000s I "wrote off" the MPC300 effects, & very rarely used them while recording.
I now feel very different and use the effects just about all the time.
If you take time and play with the delay times you can get some SICK, ROBUST delays going on that will rival some Lexicon sh!t right in the box!
With a short delay time you can even get what sound like ill reverbs, & then you can pan one all the way left, and the other all the way right- and set the delays on each to "single" & "double" times (to your bpm) and you can blow minds- just be careful with your speakers- cuz some of the long delay times can go infinite quickly and create some DEADLY feedbacks- gotta love the danger though- A good chef loves a sharp knife! Anybody feeling me?

I love the 3000's filter and the delay effect. It really sounds good!
The delay makes a little hiss tho', some white noise or something.

You hit "Mixer/Effects" - 3: "All Mix Data text" (I like to use this text based mixer) and turn up the volume on "Indiv Out". It's already set on "EFCT".

Then you hit Mixer/Effects" - 5: "Effects".

Here you set the volume, pan, time and feedback for your delays. It has three delays.

The feedback is set to 0, so to get the delay going you'll have to turn it up.

You have to turn ON the effect by pressing Soft Key 1!

Play with it, have fun!

And what's really cool is that you can adjust it and turn it on/off while the sequencer is running!

OHHH MAN! if I can gt a delay from within the MPC than I just saved myself some hassle and money....thanks, gonna check it out right away....good thing I'm on vacation or else I would be going nuts at work wanting to try this...

So I was able to make it work, in fact I'm listenning to it right now but I can't get different delays on diffrenet sounds....is this normal?

That's normal. One delay only, but you can send as many of your sounds through it.

Wurd- this is how you can get the dub-style effects going.
On something like a snare, every 8 bars or so you twist that knob to up the delay volume- no latency, no cheap sounding delay ...
It for sure takes some experimentation!

The beat "Thor's Stone" on my myspace profile has a girl that repeats on top of the beat, and that is the delay. It kicks in with the hi-hats, and later in the beat the delay is alone with the drums for some time. Pretty straight use of the delay tho'.

The beat ends with the delay alone!

Recorded straight off the stereo out on the 3000.
